I noticed when I googled the Boston one that they do seem to sometimes wear parts of the habit, and a few of the African sisters are wearing the full deal with the coif and crucifix and all. It is a bit monochrome - if I was designing a habit I think I'd prefer it in a universally flattering color like navy blue, which makes everyone's cheeks rosy, and a white coif with a sheer navy veil (soft fabrics like this one: http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc129/evillilys/nun.jpg), with a white apron for working and playing, and a white and gold crucifix.

I don't think you sound shallow. If you're going to wear one outfit for the rest of your life, you've got to like it!
